Article 3. Prohibited Animals

(a)   No person shall keep, harbor, own or in any way possess within the city limits:

(1)   Any warm-blooded, carnivorous or omnivorous, wild or exotic animals including, but not limited to, non-human primates, raccoons, skunks, foxes, and wild and exotic cats; but excluding fowl, ferrets and small rodents or varieties used for laboratory purposes.

(2)   Any animal having poisonous bites.

(b)   It shall not be a defense to a prosecution under this section or any other provision of the Code that the subject animal is a support, therapy, comfort, or companion animal unless any such animal is a service animal under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), 42 U.S.C. §§ 12101-12213 (2018), and amendments thereto, or unless the keeping, harboring, owning, or possessing of any such animal is otherwise authorized by law.
